Circle of Life Celebrations
We accompany you through baptism, weddings and funerals.
In The United Church of Canada, baptism is seen as an initiation into the new life God gives us as we join the church community. Baptism in the United Church is a sacrament. It is available to all persons, infants and adults. It is the ritual that formally recognizes we belong to the Christian community. It is an oportunity for people to join a faith community and to be welcomed by that community. Baptism is not a requirement for God’s love. We believe people who die without baptism are in no way condemned, lost, or damned.
We see people as unique, loved creations of God and welcome all people to the full life of Christian community, including marriage. We believe God intends loving relationships to be faithful, responsible, just, healing, and sustaining of the couple and those around them, and that such relationships require preparation and nurture. The United Church celebrates the marriage of: same-sex couples, previously divorced people, couples of different religions, and all people who believe in Jesus Christ and want to live faithful to his way.
Planning a funeral is never an easy thing to do. Saying goodbye to a loved one is difficult. Our church stands ready to provide a special funeral or memorial service and has the resources to help you with the grieving process. Pastoral staff are usually available on short notice when needed. They can meet with you and your family to discuss your wishes, assist you in selecting appropriate hymns or scriptures, and create an environment where the end of life is both honored and celebrated with dignity and fellowship.
We hope to see you at one of our events!
