This is an invitation to anyone who wishes to be part of the discussions about the United Church of Canada’s remits that were explained to many after the Merging Waters AGM on February 26, 2017 at the meeting of the Official Board of the Merging Waters Pastoral Charge on Wednesday, May 31, 2017, 7:30PM at Union Church Adair Hall.

There were some members who spoke to me after the meeting following our Merging Waters AGM to say that they felt these decisions should have been voted on in a Congregational meeting. However, we are obliged to vote at the Official Board of Merging Waters.  It was decided to invite anyone who wishes to be part of the discussions prior to the Board’s vote to attend this meeting without having the right to vote.

If you wish further information about the remits to be voted on, please go to the United Church of Canada website and follow the links to General Council remits.

Please feel free to speak to me or to Lyle Cruickshank if you have any questions or concerns.

On behalf of the Merging Waters Official Board, Jan Langelier Co- Chairperson. 514-453-7103

Union Church is very pleased to have Pat Mayberry joining us to sing as part of our aboriginal service on Sunday, June 11th! For those of you who don’t know Pat, she has written several hymns included in the ‘More Voices’ United Church hymn book, one of the best know of which is ‘Called by Earth and Sky’. Pat also co-wrote our last road show at Union, ‘A Gift of Light’, with Pierre Gallant, our Union music and choir director. Pat will be singing two songs for the aboriginal service, one which comes from her latest CD just released. She will be selling her CDs after the service, the older CDs for $10 and the just-released CD for $20. A percentage of the CD sales will be go toward the refugee fund. So please come and support a very gifted singer-songwriter who has contributed a lot in her music ministry to the United Church.
